Work experience

PhD Researcher (Jan. 2021 – Dec. 2024, 1.0 FTE; thesis defended on the 11th of February, 2025), Van Swinderen Institute, University of Groningen and Pôle Théorie, IJCLab, Université Paris-Saclay. Alongside my studies, I have taken on various additional responsibilities for the NLOAccess work package since January 2023, including maintaining the webpage and communicating its goals. Furthermore, in April 2024, I spent two weeks at Brookhaven National Laboratory for educational purposes.

Programmer (Sept. 2020 – Dec. 2020, 0.8 FTE), De Twee Snoeken. Architectural firm where I worked on software development for construction and residential web-applications. Here I gained hands-on experience in web-software development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, C# and Angular.

Student Assistant/Mentor (Sept. 2014 – Dec. 2020, 0.2 FTE per appt.), University of Groningen. Checking exams/exercises/reports/homework to ease the work of professors on the one hand and provide study guidance by answering questions of the students on the other. I assisted fifteen courses on the following topics: (Multivariable) Calculus, Linear Algebra, Physics Lab, Statistical Physics, Mechanics and Relativity, Structure of Matter, Quantum Physics and Cosmology.

Extracurricular activities

Columnist (May 2019 – Oct. 2022), Francken Vrij, T.F.V. ‘Professor Francken’. Writing the ‘The Theorist’ column for the popular science magazine of T.F.V. ‘Professor Francken,’ distributed to its members, sponsors, and other interested parties. I wrote nine articles in total. Additionally, in October 2023, I wrote the ‘Francken Abroad’ column titled “La vie à Paris.”

Chairman (Feb. 2019 – Aug. 2020, 0.2 FTE), Stichting LustrumExcursies Francken. Organising a three-week excursion outside Europe for T.F.V. ‘Professor Francken’ members, coordinating visits to universities and companies to explore Engineering Physics beyond Groningen.

Founder and Organiser of the National Masters Information Day for Physicists (Nov. 2016 – Mar. 20170.1 FTE), a committee of Studenten Physica in Nederland. Organising an annual event in the Netherlands that provides Physics students with the opportunity to explore the master programs available at Dutch universities.

President of the Executive Board (June 2015 – Oct. 2016, 0.8 FTE), T.F.V. Professor Francken’. Various activities for the Engineering Physics study association at the University of Groningen, such as coordinating weekly events, managing member engagement (especially for international students), and facilitating communication between students and faculty to enhance the education of the curriculum and the overall academic experience.

Member of the Education Committee (Sept. 2014 – June 2016, 0.1 FTE), University of Groningen. Various activities with the aim of improving the education in the Astronomy department.
